Imagine a perfect vegan drink with mangoes, bananas, honey, and cream? Sounds yummy right? It tastes fantastic too. It's just like that feeling of being out on a warm sunlit beach on a cold winter day. Okay, my imagination has taken me too far away. Still, a banana mango honey cream smoothie is indeed an excellent drink with many nutritional values and a perfect appetizer if you are a fitness buff.
Start your day with some smoothie. This drink can be had at breakfast and works well as an afternoon snack or even as a chilled dessert.
Let us know how to make it:
Yield - 2 Servings
One cup peeled mango, three-fourth cup of sliced banana, a two-third cup of fat-free milk, one teaspoon of raw or manuka honey, one-fourth teaspoon of vanilla extract, and one tablespoon of cream.
Take the peeled mango cubes and place them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze them for an hour until firm. For better results, freeze the mango cubes in the freezer overnight for the smoothie to be a snap to throw together. After taking out from the freezer, allow the mangoes to thaw for about fifteen minutes so that it softens slightly. When finished with processing the mangoes, place all the ingredients mentioned above in a blender and blend it until smooth. Pour it in a serving glass or a cup and add a little cream on top of it. You can also add dry milk with your smoothie. One tablespoon of dry milk gives about 100 gms of calcium.
Each serving of a banana mango honey smoothie gives you approximately 160 calories, four percent calories from fat, 0.7g of saturated fat, and 5.1g of protein. Please note that the percentages are based on Edaman's estimate and should in no way be a substitute for professional advice.
The banana Mango Honey smoothie is also called the weight loss drink. For those of whom are into the fitness routine, this drink is high on their preference list.
The nutrient value of bananas, mangoes, and honey:
Mangoes contain nutrients in vitamin C, pectin, and fiber, which help in lowering serum cholesterol levels, particularly LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein), which is also known as bad cholesterol and protects your heart. The C vitamin and A vitamin in mangoes keep the immune system healthy and help in boosting energy. Vitamin C is an essential nutrient in regulating the blood sugar level in the body.
Bananas give you strength and help you lose weight. A single banana gives you about 20 percent of vitamin B6, vitamin C, and around 10 percent of daily potassium. The fruit also makes you feel fuller so that you do not find yourself overeating. Potassium helps in retaining muscle mass. Lesser muscles mean slower metabolism and a weaker body.
Manuka Honey is high in antioxidants, which helps fight heart diseases, cancer, and also diabetes. Replace sugar with honey in your beverages for healthy returns. It also helps to heal wounds. However, remember that too much intake of honey could lead to weight gain.
So, the next time you are thinking about a banana smoothie or a mango smoothie, think about combining both the fruits with a dash of honey and a little cream for that sumptuous beverage, which is both tasty as well as nutritious.
